Toronto Dance Salsa

What is a Social?

A social is basically a salsa practice session. It is called a "Social" for a reason - it is an avenue for salsa dancers to get together and enjoy dancing together in a social setting.

Why attend a Social?

We created the Toronto Dance Salsa Sunday Social as a means for students and friends to practice their salsa in a comfortable, non-intimidating environment that is easily accessible. Sometimes when students are learning how to dance it can be intimidating to go to a dance club, especially if you don't know others there. At the TDS Socials, you do not need a partner nor do you even need a friend to attend the social with, as most people come on their own. Leaders will ask followers to dance and vice versa. Most people switch partners after every dance, although many prefer to dance with the same few partners throughout the night. There really aren't many rules. Just come out with an open attitude to meet people and have fun and you will! After attending a social once or twice you will start to get to know people and very quickly you will form a new circle of salsa friends.

We also have helpers wearing nametags at the socials who will be glad to ask you to dance or introduce you to others.
