Just got this msg from a friend, a bit of a short notice ... thought I will share in case someone wants a last minute plan.

Please come to this event:
it's called Bailando la revoluciòn Smile

and it's a salsa, cumbia, merengue dance class along with traditional mexican food to raise funds for a grassroots group from Mexico. They came all the way from Monterrey for this!

it's only 8 bucks and it's only Thursday night! (at 7:30)

Dancemakers (in the distillery) generously donated their studio!

One night only.
Only 8 dollars per person!
Please RSVP right away (before thursday morning)

Thursday, July 10, 7:30pm at Dancemakers Studio, 55 Mill Street, Case Goods Warehouse . Building 74 . Studio 306 in the distillery district.
(there will be someone at the gate to direct you to the studio)

Only $8 per person.

There will also be traditional Mexican foods (gorditas with zuchini, salsa and beans) and non-alcoholic Mexican drinks for sale at activist prices! (toonies and loonies! Smile

All proceeds will go to support the group CRIAA in Monterrey, Mexico

Come and dance with us and help to support the creation of a food activism and environmental activism group in Monterrey Mexico.

About the Dance teacher from Monterrey, Mexico.
Gerardo Tristan Alvarado is Nahuatl (Aztec) Indian and has participated with a folkloric dance group in Monterrey for three years, performing Mexican Traditional dances. He has also taught Latin dance rhythms (Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and others) in Europe (Denmark and Germany.) He has participated in two shows in Canada, the at the University of Lethbridge in 2001, and for Lethbridge’s International Dance Day in April of 2002.

About the Group.
Centro de Recurzos para la Investigacion y Aprendizaje sobre Animales (CRIAA) is a grassroots advocacy group in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Mexico. The group's mission is to provide ressources and information to the mexican public about animnal rights and environmental rights issues and to generate a social consciousness about the need to achieve a culture of respect towards other species and the planet.

Please forward this email to everyone you know and please come with many friends. This is a one-night only event as the teacher and other activists are returning to Mexico on Friday. As well this event is to help them raise funds to start their group in Mexico.
