Here are my TOP TWENTY SALSA songs of all time in order. Please download them and tell me what you think.

1) The greatest salsa song ever is : Nube pasajera by the Charanga Habanera (from the album : Pa' que se entere la Habana).

2) Super-turistica by the Charanga Habanera ( album : Pa' que se entere la Habana )

3) El Temba by the Charanga Habanera ( album : Pa' que se entere la Habana ). This is the greatest salsa album EVER !! )/

The Charanga Habanera is not as great as they used to be, but during their peak nothing could beat them. They changed salsa music, but now they are little too commercial for my taste.

4) Juego de Manos by Klimax from the same title album

5) Mi cama esta vacia by Guaco from Venezuela. The song is actually an old Kilmax song, but I prefer this version

9) Luz viajera (Issac Delgado: Otra idea)

14) La bola (Manolín, el medico de la salsa, from the:allbum:Para mi gente & El puente) I think the only famous real life doctor who sings salsa.

15) Recoge y vete (MAYKEL BLANCO Y SU SALSA MAYOR). Best young salsa group out there.

16) Mi estrella (Charanga Habanera: Hey You Loca and also done by Klimax: Oye como va)

I don't know if it is the GREATEST salsa song EVER. It is still great. But that's an old song too. Here is a great video of them on TV performing the song on Youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NuCjil7oH4

The song is by CHARANGA HABANERA and is called NUBE PASAJERA. It was taken from the PROGRAMA DE TV SABADAZO in 1996.

Sounds and looks like the old super Disco groups, no? Like Earth, Wind and Fire.

And, could you please STOP DENIGRATING Orquesta La Palabra here? Mad

I doubt you can promote your preferences while disrespecting other people's preferences.
IMO this forum is NOT a place for such conduct.

Whatever, Valentin. I wrote a lengthy rebuttal to your defense of La Palabra and the orchestra (that never shows up) and Lady (I even wrote it in Cuba, where it cost $8 to $10 an hour to go on the internet). But I didn't post it up, because I didn't want to waste everyone's time by getting into it with you. But let me have at least one or two sentences to express my feelings. After all, it is a forum. Forums are usually there to express opinions.

Well, back to more musically significant subject, BAMBOLEO (not the Gypsy Kings's song), but another Cuban super group is coming to Toronto, the Ultimate 15 piece Cuban Timba Band, April 18, 2008 at Six Degrees Nightclub 2335 Yonge St

I stand corrected on La Palabra and Paris. Who would have ever thought?

Well, then again a Walt Disney movie was the highest grossing movie in France in 2007 and Lion King, the musical has been a smash hit in Paris, and EuroDisney is still going strong. Disneyesque salsa music could work in Paris, also.

La Caro Band's Vale la Pena is the greatest salsa song that nobody has heard of. And it is a CD you can get anywhere in Canada. The album is called Vale la Pena also. It is totally family affair. 4 sisters sing and one of the sisters is married to the director.

Here is the video link. Pretty old song, eh?

And on www.muchoswing.com

On Friday, March 28, you can see a newer song La Caro group plays.
