'In my humble opinion, the greatest living real band in the world' - Ry Cooder
Septeto Nacional are an amazing musical story. A group that traces its history back 80 years to the Cuban roots that grew into the Buena Vista Social Club, their influence on Latin music is legendary. Founder Ignacio Piniero is widely credited with coining the musical term 'salsa' in his song 'Echale Salsita'. Among the first groups to perform in the US after the Obama administration opened up rules for Cuban cultural exchange, the band that played the 1932 Chicago World Expo returned for a triumphant sold-out tour. Next Friday's appearance at Lula Lounge will transport the audience to old Havana for an evening of gorgeous son and salsa, singing and dancing. Not to be missed!
