Hi, so did anyone attend this first Toronto Bachata Festival this past weekend?
How was it? How about workshops - was it worth to attend?
I am curious to hear some feedback for this event - please!

It was definitely worth attending, especially for a low early-bird price:)
I could get something out of all the workshops I attended (and I missed only one), most of them were quite instrumental and the instructors were very welcoming to get extra help. Some of them would not hesitate to tickle your funny bone either...
Dominican footwork was completely new to me, something I admired at the Friday opening at Acrobat when instructors did their demo dancing, and - bingo - there were two workshops to get a gist of it!

What could use some improvement, IMHO, is workshop names and scheduling: it was confusing... Enticing titles were placed on beginner level stuff, so once I ended up at a workshop that I didn't really benefit from 100% while I would have rather been on another floor, so there was some frustration for the stuff I might have missed (yea, you want it to cram it all into those two days!).

Helpful hint: bring your camera next time, because all the moves disappear so fast, you don't have time to take your breath, especially with two full days of workshops, performances (I saw some of them before, including TDS sexy fab girls' shines routine) and dancing till your feet drop off...

Also (and hindsight is always 20/20), I should have grabbed the offer of pre-paying $ 50 for the next year's Bachata Fest, but I didn't have cash on hand and was slow to think... Now it seems even more dumb to have missed such an offer:(
