I just wanted to share with the gang that I just got back from an amazing trip to NY. We stayed at the Hilton in Manhattan (6th Ave and 53d, just a few blocks from Times Square). It was my first time to NY and at a salsa congress and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The NY Salsa Congress (http://www.nycsalsacongress.com/index.html) appeared as the Mecca for On-2 dancers. Every night we watched 1.5 hours of salsa performances followed by social dancing. We were lucky to watch Eddie Torres perform(http://eddietorres.com/salsa.html). He is amazing!

TheToronto Salsa Congress is coming up in October. I cannot wait!(http://www.canadasalsacongress.com/).

Now that you are back, can I borrow your foot...... TO KICK MYSELF IN THE HEAD!!!!

I just got back myself, but my trip was plagued and cursed. I found out about the congress on the last day Sunday. Got there at 1pm. with no shoes; left ALL my shoes back in T.O.. Did not feel like paying $100+ for a couple of workshops so I took in the Brazilian street fest just outside your Hilton.

Tried to buy shoes, but one guy was out of my size the other did not take c.c.. My bank card would not work for some reason in N.Y.; cashless in N.Y GOTTA LOVE THAT!!!

I dont suppose you want to hear about Dali at the MoMA!!!

But definitely next year at N.Y.S.C.

Oh, that is not good and I agree, the shoes were kinda pricey for me too. I expected better deals.

Did you manage to find time and check out the " The Jimmy Anton Socials"? ... I heard from Caryl that it is a great place to be in New York - apparently lots of good salsa dancers go there.
