Happy New Year to All!
While travelling recently, a friend mentioned something about a Japanese salsa band. When I got back from my trip I looked them up, and low and behold:
Orquesta de La Luz

The wikki doesn't provide 2 much info. I was wondering if anyone had heard of them b4? They also have a few videos on youtube.
Who would've thought a Japanese Salsa band singing in Spanish!

WOW... It's both weird and nice seeing a band like this. I've never imagined there was such a thing. But I like their tunes, i think they're good.
I love both latin bands and anything Japanese. To me this is like the best of both worlds .... I will definitely be researching about this band.

That's pretty cool... I'd be interested in checking out their music, but I've clicked on both links and can't seem to find any links for a demo of their songs, or download. _________________ Katie Y.

The group is okay. For me, this is old music, but they are good musicians.
But the only reason they are famous is because they are Japanese. Let`s face it they weren`t Japanese, a lot of people wouldn`t be interested. They would be just one of the many good salsa bands around the world that many Toronto salseros don`t know about. |

It is important to remember that nobody in Orquestra de la luz can actually speak Spanish. The lead singer learned to sing in Spanish phonetically, but nobody can carry on a conversation. About their clear Spanish, I can't understand a lot of what the lead singer is saying. It must be the intonation.
Here is a Japanese guy who went to Cuba and studied to sing and speak Spanish. He sings with one of the most famous salsa groups in Cuba and sings in front of a Cuban audience in CUBA !! It is a popular salsa song that many North American salseros like
Somos Latinos by Adalberto Alvarez y su Son.
