Hi Everyone!

I was thinking of holding a Dance-A-Thon to raise money for a worth-while cause. Participants would raise money and dance non-stop for the amount of time we designate. Do you think this would be a fun popular idea and do you think people would participate? Have you ever done something like this and, if so, what advice do you have.

Help! Need your advice!

That sounds like an awesome idea. I've never been to a dance-a-thon, but I have participated in several walks, runs and drives for charity.

Usually it starts off with finding a worthy cause, then a pledge form or some kind of entrance fee. For example, a participant can either pay $20 to join the dance-a-thon or promise to raise $50 in pledges.

Then there are incentive prizes for the participants....ie...a prize for most pledges, or raising the most money, or something else that's creative. There could also be incentive prizes for dollar amounts that people pledge.

Sometimes there are small pre-events that are like a last-call to boost pledges right before the dance-a-thon.

These are just a few suggestions based on previous experiences to think about while pre-planning the fundraiser.

Any suggestions as to what to do DURING the dance-a-thon? There shoudl definitely be some kind of pick me ups... a guest instructor teaching shines or something? a performance? Someone to call out for a HUGE group casino rueda?

That sounds amazing! I have seen this on TV years ago but I haven't heard of anyone doing it lately plus I didn't know how to dance back then so it will be some much fun. I like the fact that Kimberlita wrote you can either collect pledges or just pay an entrance fee as some people like to collect but others don't. Let's do it!!!!

Hmmm... speaking of television...maybe we could get it televised somehow! That would be so awesome. I guess we should start spreading the word around.
