Alfred and I finally got a chance to check out 6 Degrees just before we left for Hong Kong and Thailand. It was a special holiday salsa night with plenty of decorations and christmas cheer. We have to give credit to our friend James for raving to us about 6 Degrees. It certainly did not disappoint. The owners have completely re-vamped what was once Berlin into an oh-so-chic space, complete with shiny new hardwood floors and a stage for live bands. The decor matches the people you will find at this club – sexy and trendy.

We got there in time for the beginner salsa lesson, after which we stayed for a little social dancing. We found dancers of all levels here. Many of the dancers here are beginners with a few couples that are more advanced. This makes it less intimidating if you’re just starting out in salsa. So if you’re a beginner, this is a great place to meet other fellow dancers.

I don’t know if its always like this, or if we just went on a really good night, but I thought the atmosphere of this place was great. The stage was put to great use with the live band, Café Cubano. This band was full of energy and played fantastic danceable songs including bachata and merengue. There was an amazing variety of music from this one band, and we like that. Everyone was dancing and having fun. Santa hats were given out and everybody was in good holiday cheer. We both wanted to stay longer than we did but we had to work early the next day… *pout*

Fortunately, 6 Degrees is open every Tuesday night for salsa so you’ll definitely find us there in the new year! See you on the dance floor!
